Axel Gauss

Steffen Kern
Steffen Kern is General Representative of LeanVal Asset Management AG and Head of Volatility Portfolio Management. Mr. Kern has been with the company since 2008, previously working at LBBW Asset Management GmbH. Artur Kampik
Artur Kampik is responsible for equity investments at LeanVal Asset Management. He is co-founder and managing partner of LeanVal Invest GmbH. Mr. Kampik is a recognized expert in capital markets analysis, asset allocation issues, stock selection and risk management.
In his 20 years of professional experience, he held various management positions at Bankhaus Reuschel, Sal. Oppenheim and Bank Vontobel (Europe) in the area of wealth and asset management. He studied business administration in Munich, Madrid and London and is a CFA Charterholder.

Markus Buchmann
Markus Buchmann is the portfolio manager of the Gamma Plus fund strategy. Prior to joining LeanVal Asset Management AG, he worked in equity derivatives trading and portfolio management at various banks and brokerage houses in Frankfurt since 1999. His main focus was on the development and implementation of trading strategies using derivatives, especially in the area of options. He is a financial and investment economist and has also been a certified Eurex trader since 2000.
Marin Arapovic
Marin Arapovic joined LeanVal Asset Management AG in 2021 to work in portfolio management. Prior to joining the company, he worked at HQ Trust as an investment consultant providing investment services to institutional investors. Prior to that, he worked at Lazard Asset Management (Germany) GmbH. He has a BSc. in Economics from Goethe University Frankfurt and an MSc. in Management with a focus on Asset Management and Derivatives from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. He is also a CFA Charterholder and member of the CFA Society Germany.

Christoph Heuschkel

Matthias Schoth
Mr. Schoth has been working for the company since 2017. He handles quantitative analysis, historical backtests, and performs programming duties for risk management. He was previously a research associate at the Institute for Nuclear Physics in Mainz for several years, conducting research on neutron polarimeters. Previously, he graduated from the University of Mainz with a degree in physics.

Axel Frein
Axel Frein joined LeanVal Asset Management AG in January 2023 and heads the Institutional Clients division. He has more than 30 years of experience in banking and capital markets in leading positions. He was Head of Treasury and Stock Exchange Trading at Westfalenbank AG until 2002. He then headed the Institutional Direct Business at Bankhaus Lampe as Managing Director for several years. In the meantime, he was CEO of the private customer bank Valovis Commercial AG. Most recently, he worked for a consulting firm specializing in private equity investments for institutional clients as well as banks and savings banks.

Thomas Hunger
Thomas Hunger was an employee in various departments of LeanVal Asset Management AG from 1999 until the beginning of 2008. After working at Deutsche Bank in the Hedge Fund Investments segment in 2008 and 2009, he returned to LeanVal Asset Management AG in early 2010. Thomas Hunger is responsible for relationship management and the expansion and maintenance of customer relationships. Mr. Hunger studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Friedberg and is a Dipl. Industrial Engineer (FH).

Bernd Bäume
Bernd Bäume joined LeanVal Asset Management AG as Director Institutional Clients in January 2023. He has decades of experience in the capital markets business. Until 2003, he held a leading position at the former Activest Investmentgesellschaft within the HVB Group as Key Account Manager responsible for the securities special funds business. He then moved to Bankhaus Lampe as a director, where he was primarily responsible for asset management acquisitions for institutional clients as well as banks and savings banks. Until 2022, he was a senior consultant for a financial services company specializing in alternative investments.

Markus Herzinger
Markus Herzinger was already an employee of LeanVal Asset Management AG from 1997 to 2011. Prof. Dr. Laurenz Czempiel is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of LeanVal Invest GmbH. He studied economics at the University of California and at the LMU in Munich and was an assistant at the Chair of Monetary Macroeconomics. At Merrill Lynch International Private Banking Group, Prof. Czempiel worked as a financial consultant. After joining Reuschel & Co. in 2004, he became a personally liable partner of the bank and, as a member of the Management Board of DONNER & REUSCHEL AG, was responsible for the Asset Management and Capital Markets divisions from 2008. He is Honorary Professor of Finance and Banking at Munich Business School.

Dieter Brichmann
Dieter Brichmann (born 1957) has been a member of the Board of Directors of Baader Bank AG since May 2000 and has been Deputy Chairman of the Board since July 2015. The business graduate began his career in an auditing firm, followed by positions at the Bank für Gemeinwirtschaft of the Alte Leipziger Bausparkasse. In 1995, he took over the management of finance and accounting at Heimstatt Bauspar AG.
In March 1999, Mr. Brichmann moved to Baader Bank AG, where he was responsible for finance and accounting/controlling until his appointment to the Executive Board.

Prof. Dr. Peter Schömig
Prof. Dr. Peter Noel Schömig is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of LeanVal Invest GmbH. He has been working for various asset management companies in leading positions for more than 20 years. As an asset manager and buy-side analyst, he has been recognized several times as one of the best buy-side analysts in Europe, both in the prestigious Thomson Extel Survey and by Institutional Investor magazine.
Prof. Dr. Schömig completed his studies in economics in Freiburg im Breisgau. In the context of his dissertation, he dealt with fundamental company valuation against the background of international accounting. He is also a registered financial analyst (CFA™ Charterholder) and author/co-author of various books.
Prof. Dr. Schömig is a specialist in accounting and business valuation and teaches at the FOM Hochschule für Oekonomie & Management. Here he is part of the university’s Department of Economics & Management and is responsible for the Finance & Accounting teaching area. He is also a member of the advisory board of the Institute for Strategic Finance (isf).
